There used to be a custom where one would bring a teacup and saucer to a friend when invited for coffee or a housewarming. Then the recipient enjoyed the message of the flowers. This became known as a friendship cup.
This teacup and saucer is decorated with hand painted flowers and roses. It is the Briar Rose pattern.
Clarence China of England crafted this classic floral design in the 1960's. Clarence was owned by the Co-operative wholesale Society Ltd, The operated as the Crown Clarence Pottery in Longton, England.
This pattern became so popular that other companies copied the design. This was before copyright laws existed.
The saucer is 5.5" in diameter. The teacup is 3.5" from rim to rim and 3" tall.
