Royal Standard Bone China of England has created this attractive design and named it Scots Emblem.
In 1249, invaders came ashore under the cover of darkness. In might have worked, if one of the soldiers had not stepped upon the native growing thistle. When he shrieked in pain, the Scots became aware of the location of the army. The hostile soldiers lost the battle.
The order of the Garter was created by King James and used the thistle as part of the badge for the knights.
Perhaps you would like to bring this pretty teacup and saucer to a housewarming or bridal shower as a useful, pretty token of the recipients Scottish heritage.
Measurements: The saucer is 5.75" in diameter. The cup is 3.5" from rim to rim and is 2.75" high. The brush strokes are so pretty that we have shown a close up of part of the saucer.
