This is a charming Belleek cat.
This cute little Irish figurine is a legendary symbol of good luck and thought to ward off evil spirits which meant their aristocratic profile only graced temples and the homes of the royalty decades ago.
This feline wears the eigth blue mark which means it was made between 1993 and 1997.
The small pottery village of Belleek in Fermanagh County, Ireland had local clay deposits the produced exceptionally translucent goods. It became known as Parian, a soft, mother of pearl glow that became associated with Belleek China.
The world took notice and since 1853, Belleek has been prized.
This hand painted cat is 5" tall and 1.75" wide. It is 2.5" from front to back.
This adorable piece is in excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks or crazing. We do not sell damaged items. You may buy with confidence. She does have a tiny black dot on her side. Perhaps she was sitting on a shamrock? Of course not, but rather this is a speck in the clay that surfaced during manufacture. It is under the glaze.
