Wedgwood China of England produced an unglazed finish called Jasperware. This antique teacup is different since the inside of the cup is glazed. The shiny surface on the inside creates a soothing buffer for the hot beverage.
Wedgwood was founded in 1759 by Josiah Wedgwood, who is now remembered as the "Father of English Potters". He was in the heart of the English potteries and serviced his apprenticeship as a potter before setting up his own business.
After he manufactured a cream colored tea and coffee service for Queen Charlotte, wife of George III, she allowed him to style himself "Potter to Her Majesty" and to call his new cream ware Queen's Ware. The rest is history. This is a highly sought after dinnerware today.

Do not wash any of the china in the dishwasher. It may cause crazing if boiling water is poured directly into the cup. These are not made for microwave use either.
We do not know the exact materials used in the china. We are selling them as decorative items.
We offer free gift wrapping on most items. It is mentioned in the listing.
