$26.25
The price features a wonderful pair of matching English egg coddlers.
Royal Worcester manufactured this set. They were created to be able to cook in them and still place them beautifully on the table.
One is supposed to rub butter on the inside of the cup, Then crack an egg into the piece. One may also add bits of cheese or other small omelet type ingredients. The top is then replaced. They are then placed in boiling water for 6 minutes. Next one removes them from the water by using the ring on top. While protecting the hands with a pad, the top is unscrewed. If the egg is not cooked enough, the egg coddler may be returned to the water after replacing the lid.
In the 1950s, people often heated baby food in these. Those were the days prior to microwave ovens.
Measurements: Each coddler is 2.5" high with an additional .75" when measuring from the base to the top of the ring. The opening is 2.25" across. Each is meant to hold one egg.
These pieces are in excellent condition. There is light scratching where the top screws onto the base. The ceramic is excellent. You may buy with confidence.
