This Victorian teacup is a creamy white with an aqua handle. The edges are scalloped and have hand painted gilt trim. The pedestal base has hand applied gold on the raised dots. In addition, the trim from the handle sets the tone. It is a stylized branch. There is no maker's name. It is an early piece. It is doubtful that you'll find another.

The handle is so unusual and the two pieces together are mesmerizing. We took a photo on a rainy day in front of a window. Can you see how the bone china highlighted the pattern of leaves which form a lotus that is opening? Or perhaps it reminds you of a rose in blossom.

As typical, this antique teacup holds 5 ounces. The standard cup today holds 6 ounces. A demitasse cup holds 2 ounces.
