Creamy white is the perfect backdrop for the decorative pink lilac design. The cup with its aristocratic wishbone handle sits atop a demure saucer which is more like a shallow bowl today.
Notice the demure lady with the cupid by the hand amid the flowers. On the reverse side is a piper playing to the shepherd girl with her staff and the sheep on the hillside.
The age is evident by the orange peel clay. It is from the 1700s. This is far before bone china was made.
Measurements: The saucer is 5.6" in diameter, 1.25" high. The cup is 3.6" from rim to rim and is 2.25" high.
This teacup and saucer is in excellent condition. Although we wish to sell, we prefer to have loyal, satisfied, repeat customers. We do this by fully describing every flaw that we see. There are lots of kiln dots of course because the clay was not perfected as it is today. This is further evidence of its age. We do not sell damaged items. There are no chips, cracks or crazing. You may buy with confidence.
