This is hand painted and signed by the artist E. Vouga. It features apples, apple blossoms and the estate where the fruit would have grown is in the background.
The logo on the back was used from 1857 to 1920 by the JHR Hutschenreuther company of Selb, Bavaria. Much of their china is considered prestigious. It supplied the china for the US embassies worldwide from the turn of the century to Obama's time in office.
In the late 1990s, Hutschenreuther AG comprised 15 production sites with a workforce of over 6,00 employees. The company continues to produce dinnerware, ornaments, and sculptures.
In 2000, Hutschenreuther became part of the Rosenthal Division of the Wedgwood Group. Rosenthal continues to use Hutschenreuther’s trademark.
