High society delighted in furs. The runways are now promoting fur again.
This particular very dark brown mink coat, almost black, was top of the line in its day. We consider this black but because it is natural, not dyed, there are shadings. There are embroidered initials, RG, inside, but they could be covered up by purchasing patch initials and hand stitching them over the existing ones. There is fur under the color (so that it can be worn up) and has two front pockets.
This is a luxurious fur made of mink paw.
There are no odors. From the collar seam in back to the back hem, the coat measures 39." The front pockets are 5.5" long. From the shoulder seam to the cuff, the sleeve measures 21". From the neck seam, over the shoulder, to the cuff, it is 26". From the mid armhole across the back to the other armhole, it is 22". The model is 5' 1" tall. Read the measurements to be sure of your size.
This appears to be a medium size. Please read the measurements and compare them to one of your coats. We are not experts at sizing.
This fur is in excellent condition. It is clean, soft and supple. There are no tears, wear spots or stains. It was stored yearly with a furrier. It has two slide openings so that a belt could be inserted and buckled in front for a different look. If not, one does not notice it. This came from and was made by Weiners Furriers of Massachusetts. It was a prominent family of furriers. They established themselves in East Lexington in 1783 and started a fur dressing business along with a store where they sold and traded textiles and other finished goods. The company was founded by Stephen and Abigail Robbins.
The lining is a brocade type of satin. It too is in lovely condition.
