The artist, Pauline R Johnson, hand painted the beautiful flowers. One can almost feel the petals on a summer's day. This lady signed the backs of the plates and dated them, 1980 and 1981. The plates are from the Rosenthal Group in Germany and is titled Classic Rose Collection.
During 1997 Waterford Wedgwood purchased sufficient shares in Rosenthal to give it majority control. Hutschenreuther became part of the Rosenthal division of the Waterford Wedgwood Group in 2000.
In 2009 Waterford Wedgwood was placed in receivership which resulted in Rosenthal being purchased by Italian designer kitchenware firm Sambonet. The takeover included all employees, trademark rights, patents and production facilities. The new company trades as Rosenthal GmbH.
The artist hand painted the wispy flowers. One can almost feel the gentle breeze on a summer's day.
The round plate measures 10.5" in diameter. The 1980 plate has a 1.75" border. The 1981 has no border only a smooth surface from edge to edge.
The quantity says 1. This means one set of two plates.
