High society delighted in furs. The runways are now promoting fur again.
This adorable piece is a short cape. Yet it has the effect of a jacket. It has two front pockets that are swirls in front. This is a BLACK fur. It is lamb, called mouton. Yes, it is real fur. IMPORTANT: It looks grey but that is only because we used heavy lights to photograph it closely so that you could see the seams, texture and pockets. It is NOT GRAY. It is Black.
It was purchased from Marcus, a store from Worcester, Ma. during the 1940s. The Worcester Historical Museum even has Catalog of fur types and brief history of fur trade (1936); style catalog of furs (1907); and letter and clippings relating to the business
The collar and caplet have a black fabric lining. From the neckline to the bottom is 22". This is probably a medium.
The fur is in excellent condition.
The lining too is in good condition. There are no tears or fading.
The live model usually wears a size 14. She is 5' 1" tall.
This appears to be a medium size. It would probably fit from a size 8 to a size 14. Please read the measurements. We are not experts at sizing. It is suggested that you compare measurements from one of your coats to our measurements to gauge the fit.
This piece was obtained from a home where it has been well cared for. It is in excellent condition. The fur is soft and supple.
