This is a forest green jewelry container. Most likely this was for a ring, but it could be used for a small pin or earrings. The inside is a white velvet with gold lettering which says Long's in the inner cover. The top and bottom has a pressurized hinge closure. It appears to be leather but it could be a leatherette covering.
How delightful for trinkets, jewelry, the vanity table, storage, traveling and portability. Perhaps one would use it to present an engagement ring.
