Tartan ribbons, outlined in gold, adorn this Royal Stafford covered container. The tartan is the Nova Scotia plaid.
The shield on the front is the Scottish flag. It is also wears the Royal arms of Scotland; a gold shield with a rampant lion.
The piece is also decorated with the trailing arbutus or mayflower, the floral emblem of Nova Scotia.
The motto above the shield is Munit haec et altera vincit and translates as "One hand defends and the other conquers"), It is proudly shown above the shield in the Scottish tradition.
The lid is designed with a notch for spoon or small utensil. They carefully trimmed the top of the base so that it can also be used without the lid. Some use this exceptional British porcelain piece as a vanity table accessory in which cosmetic brushes, pencils and other items are stored. It is finished so that it may be utilized with or without the cover.
