The handle is trimmed in gold as well as the lovely pedestal base. The Scottish thistles are partially hand painted.
There are also subtle panels on the two pieces which create elegance and interest.
This is a classic Aynsley shape with gold highlights and pretty flowers inside for a gentle surprise when they peak through the tea when being used.
Aynsley, one of the most popular brands, was produced by the John Aynsley and Sons, Ltd. at the Portland Works factory in Longton, England since 1864. Princess Diana favored Aynsley as a gift from the china industry at the time of her wedding.

Do not wash any of the china in the dishwasher. It may cause crazing if boiling water is poured directly into the cup. These are not made for microwave use either.
