Cootie Game, 1949 Cootie Game, Schaper Mfg Co, Sears Roebuck and Co, Childrens Game, Mid Century Game
In 1948, Herbert W. Schaper was a mailman in Minneapolis and a fisherman who made his own lures. One day, he added six legs to a lure that he had whittled and called it a “Cootie.” Starting out with a basement factory in his home and $1200 in 1949, he transformed the fishing lure into the Cootie game that reached $1.5 million in sales by 1953.
The directions for play are printed inside the cover and are easy to read. We do not have a dice and one of the legs is damaged. This is the original box. It does have some shelf ware on the corners.
The inside states that it was copyrighted in 1949. There is even the original price sticker on the box from Sears, Roebuck and Co. It sold then for $1.69.
The price also includes free Priority Mail within the US and free shipping insurance.
The box is 6.25" in wide, 1.75" high and 9.25" long.
This retro game is adorable. We have described it all so that you may buy with confidence.

We specialize in custom orders for resellers all over the world. Contact us to discuss the details.
We no longer sell to China or the Middle East. Although the people are lovely, we have had too many delivery problems.
We ship within the continental US for free. For other areas, the order is sent via First Class International Mail with the US Post Office or with Global Shipping, a company that works with Etsy.
Of course, we are happy to work with large orders. Contact us through messages and explain your needs.
Do not wash any of the china in the dishwasher. It may cause crazing if boiling water is poured directly into the cup. These are not made for microwave use either.
We do not know the exact materials used in the china. We are selling them as decorative items.
We offer free gift wrapping on most items. It is mentioned in the listing.
