This cream soup is Victorian china at its finest. Most often it is used as a boullion cup. The pleats are mesmerizing. It was created in the Alexandra Patter.Originally it was known as Square Fluted. It was produced from 1887 to 1902.
The mark is that of Wileman & Co. Fenton & Longton, Staffordshire, England (circa 1892-1925). The Rd No. is a design registration date mark from the English Registry system. Rd No 60650 is a code for the year 1887 and represents the design of the decoration on the china.
The original potteries built in 1860 was by Henry Wileman. In 1862 , J.B. Shelley joined as a traveling salesman. In 1872, they began a partnership.. The business continued under new ownership from 1892 to 1925 under the Wileman & Co. name. In 1925 it became Shelley Potteries Ltd.
Shelley hired the finest artisans of their day and used the most expensive materials available. Their name became synonymous with quality.

Measurements: The saucer is 5.75" on the diagonal. It is 5" square. The cup is 3.75" from rim to rim at the widest part and 2.25" high.
This English bone china is in excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks or crazing. There are a few black specks which are expected in Victorian china. They are under the glaze. There is also an old cut in the handle that occurred at the time of manufacture. It is on the back side on your right in picture 9. It is not cracked.

Do not wash any of the china in the dishwasher. It may cause crazing if boiling water is poured directly into the cup. These are not made for microwave use either.
